UD's Daly named CAA men's basketball rookie of week for sixth time

Another Monday, another Colonial Athletic Association men’s basketball rookie of the week award for Blue Hens freshman guard Ryan Daly.

Daly, who earned his school-record fifth rookie of the week honor a week ago, earned his sixth award this week after averaging 22.0 points and 9.5 rebounds in UD’s two games.

Daly posted game-highs of 24 points and 12 rebounds for his fourth double-double of the year during Thursday’s 68-67 win vs. Drexel, while his game-winning three-pointer with 12 seconds remaining made him the leading freshman scorer in school history. He again led the Blue Hens with 20 points vs. William and Mary on Saturday, his eighth 20-point effort of the season and his seventh consecutive double figure scoring game. Daly also ranked second on the squad with seven boards, becoming the leading freshman rebounder in UD history.

Daly has now led the Hens in scoring during 15 of the last 18 games, including each of the previous seven contests. He currently ranks fifth in the CAA with a 7.1 rebounding average, and is ninth in the league by averaging 15.4 points per game. Among conference games, Daly ranks fifth in both categories, while his 37.8 minutes average is second most in the league.

Daly and the Blue Hens conclude their regular season this week with road games at Charleston on Thursday and Elon on Saturday.
