Art history graduate students to present work at symposium
The University of Delaware Department of Art History will hold its annual Graduate Student Research Symposium at 5 p.m., Thursday, March 2, in the Visual Resources Center, 211 Old College.
Five students will present their recent and ongoing research during the event, which is free and open to the public. The symposium will include light refreshments and a lively discussion session, moderated by Jason Hill, assistant professor of art history.
The students and their topics are:
• Laura Sevelis, “Framing Iconoclasm: Memory and Identity in The Archdukes Albert and Isabella Visit a Collector’s Cabinet”;
• Kristina Gray, “King Luis I of Spain on Horseback: Bourbon Legitimization and the Vision of War in Early 18th Century Peru”;
• Jeff Richmond-Moll, “A Knot of Species: Raphaelle Peale’s Still Life with Steak and the Ecology of Food”;
• Kristen Nassif, “The Great White Way: Seeing Frank David Millet’s The Granddaughter (Grandpa’s Visit)”; and
• Spencer Wigmore, “‘A Spunky and Skittish Creature’: Looking at Thomas Eakins’ Equestrian Sculptures.”
