UD Capture registration open
August 24, 2017
Faculty members are encouraged to sign up for UD Capture by Aug. 28.
University of Delaware faculty members are encouraged to sign up for UD Capture classroom recording service by noon, Monday, August 28. This free service records classroom presentations and discussions for faculty and students to review after class.
All centrally scheduled classrooms are equipped with UD Capture, as are many departmental classrooms and meeting rooms. To make sure a classroom is equipped, faculty can check online to see if UD Capture is available in their scheduled class location, then use the UD Capture registration form to sign up for the service.
To guarantee that the first day of a course is scheduled to record, complete the registration form by noon on Aug. 28. Requests made after noon that day will be honored but may not be implemented until the first or second class meeting after the request has been received.
With UD Capture, everything happens automatically behind the scenes. Faculty members register their courses for UD Capture, then start teaching as they ordinarily would. Within an hour of the end of each class meeting, an online recording is available to the members of the class.
This free service records a faculty member’s projected computer visuals and the audio from the class meeting for the students, teaching assistants and faculty to review at any time. Faculty can also use document cameras, installed in several classrooms or available for checkout.
Faculty members also might find the self-service UD Capture Studios to be helpful in presenting missed or supplemental material for students throughout the semester. The studios, located in 309 Gore Hall and 208 Harker Interdisciplinary Science and Engineering Laboratory, are equipped with a recording station, microphone, and a video connection for a laptop computer. The rooms are available for reservation online and a quick start guide is available to guide faculty through the recording process.
Staff in Faculty Commons are available to consult regarding which tools best match faculty teaching needs. Faculty Commons is located in 116 Pearson Hall. Appointments can be arranged by calling 302-831-0640 or emailing email@example.com.
