Instructors can explore film, video resources in Sept. 6 UD Library workshop

Using media as an instruction tool is one way to connect with today’s increasingly digital classroom. For those teaching a course this semester, the University of Delaware Library’s Film and Video Collection can help foster this connection.

Attend the “Orientation to Film and Video Collection” workshop on Wednesday, Sept. 6, to explore the scope of film, video and gaming materials and services available to enhance coursework.

This orientation will show faculty how to check out and schedule videos for future class use and consider how more media can be incorporated into teaching in seamless and copyright-conscious ways.

Participants will discover how to search the Library’s online catalog for Film and Video Collection materials, see what films and videos are available for class viewing and learn how to access and utilize the newly expanded streaming databases to which the Library subscribes.

This orientation will be held from 10-11 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 6, in the Film and Video Viewing Room on the lower level of Morris Library. If you are an instructor and would like to attend, please register here.

Meghann Matwichuk, associate librarian and coordinator, Film and Video Collection, will lead this workshop. It is open to faculty and graduate students who will be teaching a course this semester.

Workshops are free of charge, but registration is required as seating is limited.

Those interested in learning about the Film and Video Collection who are unable to attend the workshop should email mtwchk@udel.edu to arrange for an individual consultation.

This session does not cover production resources available at the Student Multimedia Design Center. For a complete listing of Library workshops, including those in the Student Multimedia Design Center, visit library.udel.edu/workshops.

All Morris Library visitors need photo identification to enter. Visitors with UD ONEcards can use those at the turnstiles for easy access to the Library. If you do not have a UD ONEcard, you will need a state-issued ID (a driver’s license, a government-issued or school-issued photo ID, etc.) to enter.

Please call 302-831-2432 or email lib-workshops@udel.edu with questions regarding workshops.
