Campuswide tests of UD Alert, carillon systems

UD to conduct tests of emergency notification systems

The University of Delaware this month will conduct tests of UD Alert, the University’s emergency notification system, and the carillon outdoor notification system.

The UD Alert test, beginning at 1 p.m., Friday, Aug. 18, will include email and text messages and is designed to ensure that members of the University community can receive information during a campus crisis or emergency.

On Aug. 18, the test message will say, "Attention please. This is a test of the UD Alert emergency notification system. This is only a test. There is no further action required on your part. This concludes this test."

At 6 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 23, the University will conduct a test of the carillon outdoor emergency notification system. The public address system is used to notify the campus community about an emergency on campus.

For the test, the following message will be broadcast: "Attention please. This is a test of the UD emergency notification system. This is only a test. This concludes this test."

Individuals do not need to take any action once they become aware of these two tests of our emergency notification systems.

All members of the University community should visit the University’s UD Alert website to learn more about the emergency notification system. The website also has a helpful FAQ section and provides information on updating contact information.

Members of the University community also are advised to take advantage of the free Live Safe App, which can be downloaded on smartphones. Learn more about the app at the Live Safe App website.

All members of the UD community are encouraged to take a moment to ensure that they have registered for UD Alert, which is the primary means of notifying the campus community about an imminent threat or emergency situation.
