UD Botanic Gardens announces first photo contest winners

The University of Delaware Botanic Gardens (UDBG) has announced the winners of its first photo contest, held in association with its 25th anniversary plant sale celebration.

The Best Overall award went to Nikki Jackson for “Scattered Pollen.”

In the Plants category, first place went to Eric Moore for “Faded Flowers,” and second place went to Alexander Tewnion for “Skipper Visiting.”

In the Landscapes category, first place was awarded to Rebecca Snow for “Dry Creek Bed,” and Zachary Pendley took second place for “Daffodils at Sunset.”

All entries in the contest, which ran from early March until April 17, will be on display at UDBG’s spring plant sale, from 3-6 p.m., Friday, April 28, and from 9:30 a.m.-4 p.m., Saturday, April 29. Contest winners receive gift certificates to the plant sale.

The gardens are open year-round to provide ideas and inspiration or for a quiet stroll. UDBG contributes to an understanding of the relationship between plants and people through education, research, Cooperative Extension and community support.
