April 28: Phillies history

Phillies sportswriters featured at Friday lecture series in Wilmington

Two regional sportswriters will be sharing stories about their longtime association with the Philadelphia Phillies baseball team at a free event at 12:30 p.m., Friday, April 28, at the University of Delaware’s Arsht Hall in Wilmington.

Bill Fleischman, former Philadelphia Daily News and Wilmington News Journal sportswriter, and Paul Hagen, author and sportswriter for MLB.com and the Daily News, will share experiences from their more than 44 years of covering the team.

The presentation is sponsored by the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at the University of Delaware in Wilmington, a membership organization for adults 50 and over to exchange ideas, take classes, teach, and travel in the company of their peers. The program is a learning cooperative whose members are its students, planners, instructors, committee members and facilitators. UD offers OLLI programs in Wilmington, Dover, Lewes and Ocean View.

The Wilmington event is part of a Friday lecture series that is free and open to the public, with no registration is required. The lecture takes place 12:30-1:45 p.m. at Arsht Hall on UD’s Wilmington Campus, 2700 Pennsylvania Ave. For more information, call 302-573-4486 or write to LLL-wilm@udel.edu.
