RefWorks workshops

University Library offers fall semester workshops on new RefWorks

The University of Delaware Library has announced that it will offer fall semester workshops on RefWorks, an online citation management tool.

“Introduction to the New RefWorks” will provide hands-on practice with using the new interface for RefWorks.

Topics covered include setting up an account, exporting references from databases, organizing these references, and creating a bibliography.

The workshop is co-sponsored by the Graduate Student Senate.

“Introduction to the New RefWorks” will be offered in Room 114 on the first floor of the Morris Library as follows:

• Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2-3:30 p.m.

• Tuesday, Oct. 11, 10-11:30 a.m.

• Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2-3:30 p.m.

Presenter will be Dianna McKellar, librarian, Reference and Instructional Services Department.

The “New RefWorks: Beyond the Basics” workshop will introduce the new interface and capabilities of the 2016 release of RefWorks and will cover the advanced functions.

Topics include exporting references from journal databases, organizing references, using the Write-N-Cite feature to insert in-text citations, and creating bibliographies or reference lists.

Previous attendance at an “Introduction to the New RefWorks” workshop is highly recommended for the advanced workshop.

“New RefWorks: Beyond the Basics” will be offered will be offered in Room 114 on the first floor of the Morris Library as follows:

• Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2-3:30 p.m. Presenter will be Rebecca Knight, associate librarian, Reference and Instructional Services Department.

• Tuesday, Oct. 18, 10-11:30 a.m. Presenter will be William Simpson, associate librarian, Reference and Instructional Services Department.

• Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2-3:30 p.m. Presenter will be Rebecca Knight.

These workshops are available at no charge and are open to University of Delaware faculty, staff and students. Seating is limited and registration is required. For a complete listing of workshops and to register online, go to this website.

All visitors to the Morris Library need to have photo identification to enter the building, e.g., a UD ONEcard, a U.S. driver’s license or a government-issued or school-issued photo ID. Frequent visitors to the Morris Library, who are 18 years of age or older and who do not have a ONEcard, may visit the Circulation and Reserve desk to register and have their photo taken for a free Library Frequent Visitor card. Once received, this ID can then be used with the card reader at the turnstiles for easy access to the building.
