First Year Seminar program accepting applications for Peer Mentors

The University of Delaware First Year Seminar program is seeking Peer Mentors for fall 2017.

Peer Mentors are upper-class students who serve as resources and role models for first-year students.

To be Peer Mentors, students must have cumulative grade point averages of at least 2.8 and be involved in several organizations around campus.

Peer Mentors serve as student liaisons for new first-year students, build a sense of academic community among a small group of first-year students, and serve as resources for first-year students with questions or concerns.

All Peer Mentors are required to take a one-credit UNIV 301 class that meets every Wednesday from 3:30-5:30 p.m. in the second half of the spring semester. Students must be able to attend this class to participate in the program.

Peer Mentors receive $800 in compensation over the course of the semester, with $100 extra for each year they serve as a Peer Mentor with a maximum stipend of $1,000.

Peer Mentors receive one-credit for attending and passing training class

The application deadline is noon, Wednesday, Oct.19.
