Sept. 22: Horn Program open house

Horn Program open house to highlight entrepreneurship opportunities

The University of Delaware’s Horn Program in Entrepreneurship will host an open house for UD students on Thursday, Sept. 22, at the Venture Development Center (VDC), 132 E. Delaware Avenue.

The VDC will be open from 1-3 p.m. and from 5-7p.m. for students and their families to tour the building, meet with students and faculty members and learn about the resources that the Horn Program has to offer.

The Horn Program offers a major, two minors and master’s degree programs in entrepreneurship, as well as workshops, classes and networking events that are open to students in other majors or colleges.

“I have found entrepreneurship to be one of my passions,” said Elizabeth Soulas, a senior in UD’s College of Engineering. “And I know that I will be taking what I learned with me throughout my career.”

UD entrepreneurship major Nick Papaleo has similar feelings about his time at the Horn Program.

“Companies want innovators, problem solvers and team leaders,” Papaleo said. “[These qualities are] part of the training and education at the Horn Program.”

Papaleo recently received a job offer to work in the finance department of an investment bank when he graduates.

“The Horn Program teaches you how to lead, innovate and stand out no matter where you go,” added fellow entrepreneurship major Hannah Sporer.

Sporer also recently received and accepted a position at a publicly traded insurance company after completing an internship with them this summer.

The Horn Program encourages all students who are interested in learning about entrepreneurship at UD and the opportunities it offers to attend this open house.
