Nov. 11-13: Startup Weekend Delaware

Startup Weekend returns to UD in November with $50 discount for UD students

The University of Delaware’s Horn Program in Entrepreneurship will host Startup Weekend at the Venture Development Center from 6:30 p.m., Friday, Nov. 11, through 9 p.m., Sunday, Nov.13.

Tickets to Startup Weekend are available online, and UD students may use the discount code “STUDENT” for a $50 discount on ticket prices.

“Bringing University of Delaware students and the Delaware tech and startup communities together will generate diverse ideas,” said Mona Parikh, adjunct professor and tech community liaison for the Horn Program and managing director of Start It Up Delaware. “It is the only way we can truly innovate.”

Startup Weekend is a 54-hour event where developers, designers and business development leaders come together, share ideas, form teams and launch startups. These events are community-focused and provide a place for budding entrepreneurs to find co-founders, mentors and momentum for their ideas.

Participants will have 60 seconds to make a pitch (optional), and then teams will be created to support the top ideas. The weekend will culminate with demonstrations in front of an audience of judges and potential investors.

Since 2009, Startup Weekend events have occurred in more than 140 countries with more than 234,000 participants.

Techstars, a global ecosystem that empowers entrepreneurs to bring new technologies to market, runs Startup Weekend to help grow and nurture startups worldwide.
