Library offers workshop ‘Publishing Toolkit for Graduate Students’

University of Delaware graduate students publishing their research and scholarly contributions face many choices regarding the rights that they either retain or sign away.

Open access journals are well established as a means of disseminating scholarly works, yet here too scholars face many decisions regarding where and how to share their works while still protecting their intellectual property.

A University of Delaware Library workshop on Nov. 3 titled “Publishing Toolkit for Graduate Students: Authors’ Rights and Open Access” will provide emerging researchers with a solid understanding of these choices and the implications.

Participants will leave with a small toolkit of resources to help them navigate the somewhat unfamiliar world of publishing and open access requirements they must now address.

This workshop is being co-sponsored by the Office of Graduate and Professional Education.

“Publishing Toolkit for Graduate Students: Authors’ Rights and Open Access” will be offered from 10-11 a.m., Thursday, Nov. 3, in Room 114 on the first floor of the Morris Library.

Presenters will be Cathy Wojewodzki, librarian and scholarly communication officer, and Meg Grotti, associate librarian and assistant head, Instructional Services.

This workshop is offered at no charge and open to UD students, faculty, and staff. Seating is limited, and registration is required. For a complete listing of workshops and to register online, go to this website.

Participants are welcome to use the resources of the University of Delaware Library on-site. All visitors to the Morris Library need to have photo identification to enter the building, e.g., a UD ONEcard, a U.S. driver’s license or a government-issued or school-issued photo ID.

Call 302-831-2432 or email lib-workshops@udel.edu with questions regarding the workshop.
