Students, families explore UD entrepreneurship during Parents and Family Weekend

The University of Delaware’s Horn Program in Entrepreneurship welcomed more than 70 students and their families to the Horn eXperience on Saturday, Oct. 8, as part of Parents and Family Weekend.

This brunch and workshop was designed to take attendees through the four-year student experience in just 30 minutes.

“[Parents] got to really see how their children are being taught to think innovatively and apply this to real-world issues that prepare them for the future,” said Horn Program student ambassador and entrepreneurial studies minor Stacie De Lucia.

The stations and activities highlighted courses and programs that students may participate in during their time at UD. Topics included developing and executing marketing plans and bringing new science and tech inventions to market.

“I thought this was a very good representation [of the Horn Program] because the participants were able to interact with the actual professors, asking questions and being a student themselves for the day,” De Lucia said.

Throughout the workshop, parents were not only able to experience the kind of work their children will complete throughout their college careers, but students also got a closer look at the academic road ahead of them.

Both parents and students said that they left the Horn eXperience with a greater sense of knowledge and excitement for the Horn Program.

“We are all so thrilled [my son] chose this path, and he’s so excited about the various people he’s met and experiences and classes he’s had so far,” said parent Joelle Webber.
