Digitizing Old Formats: Video

Library offers multimedia workshop on ‘Digitizing Old Formats: Video’

The University of Delaware Library will offer a workshop on “Digitizing Old Formats: Video” on Tuesday, Nov. 15.

Participants will receive an overview of equipment and digital transfer services available at the Student Multimedia Design Center, and the workshop will cover the steps necessary to convert old videos on VHS or Hi-8 tapes into digital formats that can be edited and burned to DVD or sampled to compile highlight reels on a topic.

Participants will be introduced to working with the center’s equipment and will be provided digitized files to edit using iMovie in preparation for sharing.

“Digitizing Old Formats: Video” will be offered from 9:30-11:30 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 15, in Room B of the Student Multimedia Design Center on the lower level of the Morris Library.

Presenter will be John Stevenson, associate librarian, Student Multimedia Collections and Services Department.

This workshop is available at no charge and is open to University of Delaware students, faculty and staff. Seating is limited and registration is required. For a complete listing of workshops and to register online, go to this website

Participants are welcome to use the resources of the University of Delaware Library on-site. All visitors to the Morris Library need to have photo identification to enter the building, e.g., a UD ONEcard, a U.S. driver’s license or a government-issued or school-issued photo ID.
