Library offers workshop ‘Writing a Data Management Plan’

The University of Delaware Library is offering a workshop on “Writing a Data Management Plan” to be held Nov. 10.

Data management plans are now required from most funding agencies as a part of any application for research grants. The workshop will cover the basics of writing a data management plan including what elements must be included in the DMP, where to locate appropriate metadata schemas and subject specific data repositories, and licensing restrictions that might be appropriate for your research data.

Participants will also see a live demonstration of the DMPTool, an online resource that helps create a DMP and has many helpful resources relayed to data management.

“Writing a Data Management Plan” will be offered from 10-11:30 a.m., Thursday, Nov. 10, in the Library Instruction Room 114 on the first floor of the Morris Library.

Presenters will be Tom Melvin, librarian, Reference and Instructional Services Department, and Anita Schwartz, scientific application consultant IV, IT-Client Support and Services.

The workshop is available at no charge and is open to University of Delaware faculty and graduate students. Seating is limited and registration is required. To register online, go to this site.

Participants are welcome to use the resources of the University of Delaware Library on-site. All visitors to the Morris Library need to have photo identification to enter the building, e.g., a UD ONEcard, a U.S. driver’s license or a government-issued or school-issued photo ID.

Call 302-831-2432 or email lib-workshops@udel.edu with questions regarding the workshops.
