Coaching changes

UD Athletics announces changes in coaching staff

University of Delaware Director of Intercollegiate Athletics and Recreation Services Christine Rawak announced today two changes with the athletics coaching staff:

• Head Football Coach David Brock has been relieved of his duties.

• Head Volleyball Coach Bonnie Kenny and Associate Head Coach Cindy Gregory have been relieved of their duties.

All three personnel changes take effect immediately.

Brock was 19-22 in his four seasons at Delaware, including a 2-4 record in 2016.

“After thorough consideration and assessment, we have made the decision to change leadership of our football program and I informed Dave this afternoon,” said Rawak.  “As he has been throughout his time at UD, Dave was a true professional.  We want to thank him for his four years of service to the University of Delaware.  Ultimately, the hard work and effort off the field did not result in the success that we expect on the field.  We wish Dave and his family the best.”

Rawak has appointed Co-Defensive Coordinator Dennis Dottin-Carter as the interim head coach for the remainder of the football season.  A national search for Brock’s successor will begin immediately.

Rawak also announced that Kenny and Gregory have been relieved of their duties for the women’s volleyball program.  Kenny and Gregory coached at Delaware for 15 seasons and helped lead the Blue Hens to five CAA Team Championships and multiple NCAA Tournaments between 2007-11.

Brian Toron and Dana Griskowitz will continue to lead the team for the remainder of the season, along with Colleen (Walsh) Caskey, a record-setting four-time All-Colonial Athletic Association hitter who played for the Blue Hens in 2004-07, who has joined the staff during the transition.

“A change in the leadership of our volleyball program was appropriate at this time,” said Rawak. “Our full support will go toward our student-athletes and coaches both on and off the court as they look to finish the season on a high note. We want to thank Bonnie and Cindy for their many years of service and wish them all the best.”

A search for a permanent replacement as head coach will begin immediately.
