UDLA officers

University of Delaware Library Associates 2017 officers elected

The University of Delaware Library Associates, the friends group of the University of Delaware Library, held the annual meeting of the board of directors on Tuesday, Nov. 15, and elected officers for calendar year 2017.

The officers are as follows:

• President Theodore F. Killheffer, UD Class of 1958 and private attorney.

• Senior Vice President James P. Dalle Pazze, private attorney.

• Vice President Edmond L. Lincoln, retired investment banker.

• Treasurer Joseph P. Melloy Sr., president of Technology Planning Group.

• Secretary Marsha Barnett, court-appointed special advocate (CASA) for the state of Delaware.

• Assistant Secretary/Treasurer Trevor A. Dawes, vice provost for libraries and museums and May Morris University Librarian at the University of Delaware.

At the meeting on Nov. 15, President Wilson J.C. Braun Jr. presented a gift check of $40,000 on behalf of the University of Delaware Library Associates (UDLA) to Provost Domenico Grasso and Dawes.

The contribution will be used to assist with the purchase of acquisitions of materials for Special Collections in the University of Delaware Library.

Re-elected board members for the term of Jan. 1, 2017, through Dec. 31, 2019, are:

• Frances O. Allmond

• Margaretta S. Brokaw

• Mary Harding Cist

• Ronald M. Finch

• Robert L. Hampel

• Constance C. Keating

• Marilyn Kay Lynam-Jewett

• Rodman Ward III

Newly elected board members for the term of Jan. 1, 2017, through Dec. 31, 2019, are Anthony G. Flynn, Elizabeth M. McGeever and Mason E. Turner Jr.

The UDLA works to expand and enrich the research collections of the University of Delaware Library through gifts from individual members, funds raised by sponsored programs and by donations of significant books.

Contributions of the University of Delaware Library Associates assist the library financially with the acquisition of library materials which otherwise could not be acquired.

The UDLA also supports an annual lecture program featuring the research of a UD faculty member and sponsors an exhibition program with a reception. The Library Associates publishes a semiannual Newsletter of the University of Delaware Library Associates.

The UDLA will host an annual dinner that includes a presentation by an author of national acclaim. In 2017 the annual dinner will be held on Wednesday, April 12, with speaker Maureen Corrigan, America’s most trusted and beloved book critic, who will speak about her most recent book, So We Read On: How the Great Gatsby Came to Be and Why It Endures.

The University of Delaware Library Associates welcomes new members. Membership contributions begin at $50 per year. The membership brochure of the Library Associates is available via the library web.
