The University of Delaware Library will celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Student Multimedia Design Center (SMDC) from Feb. 21-24, 2017. 

The SMDC was designed to meet the needs of the increasing number of classes which involve the creation of multimedia projects; and has been nationally recognized for meeting those needs with computer hardware, software, studios, equipment for loan, instruction and staff expertise.

Part of the planning of the SMDC, which was co-managed by IT-Client Support and Services until 2010, involved creation of a logo, which was inspired by the “play” symbol on many electronics.

The SMDC has evolved in the past 10 years to keep up with new technology and the changing needs of the students, and those involved with the center say they believe that it is time to also refresh the logo.

UD students, faculty and staff members are encouraged to design and submit a new logo as part of a logo contest. Instructors are also invited to share the news about the contest with their design, art and visual communication students.

Entry rules and submission guidelines can be found on the logo contest website. The deadline for the contest is Dec. 21.
