UDon't Need It

Reusable items accepted

Marking 10th anniversary, UDon't Need It runs May 24-June 8

Now celebrating it 10th anniversary, UDon’t Need It provides students who are moving out of University of Delaware housing or off-campus residences an opportunity to put items they no longer need to good use while also being friendly to the environment.

The goals of the project are to reduce local landfill waste and to redirect reusable items to the community.

“We’re really thrilled with the success of the UDon’t Need It Student Move Out Project, now in its 10th year,” said Deborah McCredie, assistant university secretary in the Office of the Vice President and University Secretary. “This has been a wonderful cooperative effort between the University and the city of Newark, and we are really happy to know that we’ve made an impact in the local community in so many ways.”

The program partners really salute the students who participate in the event, McCredie said.

“They care about the environment and want to minimize what goes to the local landfills,” McCredie said. “We also salute the community that has been so supportive of this effort over the years, and we have lots of folks who love to come out and see what treasures they can find on our Public Sale Days.”

Volunteers at the Science, Technology and Advanced Research (STAR) Campus location at 540 South College Avenue will help sort items for the Public Sale Days.
