University Library announces LibQUAL+ survey winners

The University of Delaware Library recently surveyed UD students, faculty and staff using the LibQUAL+ library survey. This widely used and well-established national survey instrument developed by the Association of Research Libraries assesses perception of quality of library services, facilities and collections to assist the University Library in planning for the future.

The University Library previously surveyed the campus in the spring of 2013.

The survey was available online for three weeks from Feb. 22 through March 18. This year 2,981 participants completed the survey, an increase of 18 percent from 2013.

As with the previous survey, the results are being analyzed and the data will be released to the University community. The library will use the analyzed comments and information to forecast future library resources, services and spaces. Results will be made available to the University community by July 1.

After the survey, the University Library awarded 21 UD students, staff and faculty members with prizes in a drawing for participation in the survey. UD faculty, staff and students who wanted to participate in a drawing for Fitbits and various gift cards included their University email address when completing the survey (email addresses were not linked to survey responses).

The Association of Research Libraries LibQUAL+ program provided the University Library with randomly drawn email addresses in a ranked order, which determined all the winners.

The University of Delaware Library presented Fitbits to:

• Cynthia Munyan, administrative assistant III, University Development

• Mark Parker Miller, graduate student from the College of Arts and Sciences

• Thomas Behan, senior from the College of Engineering

• Stephanie Billig, sophomore from the College of Health Sciences

• Janson Stoltzfus, sophomore from the College of Engineering

Gift cards were also awarded to:

• Dominique Lester, College of Agriculture and Natural Resources

• Christopher Orfaly, Professional and Continuing Studies

• Jeffrey Attakorah, College of Engineering

• Julia Robinson-Guy, College of Health Sciences

• Jessica Poggi, Alfred Lerner College of Business and Economics

• Christine Hoch, College of Health Sciences

• Phillip Abramson, College of Arts and Sciences

• Danielle Leppo, College of Arts and Sciences

• Natalie Belvedere, Alfred Lerner College of Business and Economics

• David Geron-Neubauer, College of Engineering

• Barbra Mwangi, College of Arts and Sciences

• Ian Stewart, Associates in Arts Program

• Jacob Filby, College of Earth, Ocean and Environment

• Samantha Erb, College of Arts and Sciences

• Coleen Hubler, College of Arts and Sciences

• Marguerite Horton, College of Arts and Sciences

The results from the 2013 survey assisted the University of Delaware Library to plan for more group study rooms, remodel the first floor to be a collaborative area and enhance existing library resources and services.

The LibQUAL+ survey implementation is being administered by the University of Delaware Library’s Assessment Committee. Committee members congratulate all prize winners.
