July 30: Arts Education Fair

Free event to showcase top music conservatories, colleges, boarding schools

The Master Players Festival and School (MPFS) will host an Arts Education Fair on Saturday, July 30, on the University of Delaware campus in Newark.

This one-day annual conference, which is co-presented by Blue Resources USA, will feature presentations and panel discussions by admissions officers from top U.S. music conservatories, colleges and boarding schools, all of which have strong music and arts programs. Blue Resources’ experts on arts education will provide coaching and consultation for artistically talented students, whether their goal is to become a professional musician or to study music for life enrichment.

The deadline for registration is June 30, and seats are available on a first-come, first-served basis. To register, visit the Signup Genius page.

The MPFS Arts Education Fair is a great opportunity for students in grades 7-12 and their families to learn about a variety of music programs, to network with many leading professors teaching at elite American institutions and to meet the directors of admissions from private boarding schools, conservatories and colleges. Families with younger children are also invited to learn about the future of arts education.

Local students and families in the Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, Pennsylvania and New Jersey areas with a passion for art and an interest in prep school and college applications are welcome  to register to join the Arts Education Fair.

The University of Delaware Master Players Concert Series and Blue Resources USA provide sponsorship for this event to be free for the general public.

Participating high schools include St. Andrew’s School, Episcopal High School, Interlochen Center for the Arts, Ross School and Groton School. Participating colleges and conservatories include the Peabody Institute at Johns Hopkins University, the Manhattan School of Music, Temple University, University of Delaware, University of Maryland, University of Michigan, the Eastman School of Music, and University of Rochester.

Here is the tentative event schedule for July 30:

• 9 a.m.-noon, American Conservatory and Colleges Conference

• 1–4 p.m., American Private School Conference

• 4:30–6:30 p.m., Arts Education Fair

Presentations and panel discussions at the American Conservatory and Colleges Conference and the American Private School Conference are to be announced.
