Perse honored by alma mater

UD professor of communication to receive Centennial Award

The School of Communication Studies at Kent State University will honor alumna Elizabeth M. Perse, professor of communication at the University of Delaware, for her commitment and contribution to the field of communication studies.

Perse, a 1987 doctoral graduate of the School of Communication Studies, will be presented the Centennial Award, the school’s highest honor, at a Sept. 30 celebration as part of Kent State’s 2016 Homecoming. The award honors an individual associated with the school who is nationally or internationally recognized for contributions to his or her profession related to the field of communication.

Perse, who also is chair of UD’s Department of Communication, conducts research and teaches mass communication theory and the uses of newer communication technologies. She has been identified as a prolific researcher in communication, having published a scholarly book, two textbooks and more than 50 journal articles and book chapters.

“I am so pleased to be recognized by my alma mater,” Perse said. “This award is especially meaningful coming from such a strong school comprised of so many outstanding students and alumni.”
