Learn to Skate Summer Camp: August 5-9, 2013

Under the direction of Angie Cardello, UD Learn to Skate Program Coordinator, this camp will focus on every facet of Figure Skating as well as introducing the basic skills to those who have never skated or taken lessons before.  All skill levels welcome!

The camp will ensure everyones development over the five days of training as classes will be designed to meet everyones skating ability. Held in the Fred Rust Arena from August 5-9, the camp will utilize the talents of the local UD skating community, including professional coaches from the UD High Performance Figure Skating Center.


Areas to be covered:
On-Ice classes will focus on strengthening skills to gain more power, speed and fine tuning the technique of jumping and spinning.


Off-Ice classes off-ice will focus on strength and conditioning, plyometric training, ballet, stretching as well as interpretation to music

What you will need to bring:
Skates (can also be rented if needed at no additional cost)
Skating attire
Tights (may be purchased in Crystal Sports in arena lobby)
Ballet slippers for ballet or socks
Gloves, mittens, warm layers of clothes
Gym clothes, including, shorts, t-shirt and sneakers
Swim suit, towel, sun screen
Daily lunch (except on Friday)
*Pizza and Drinks will be provided on Friday, August 9 for lunch

Learn to Skate Camp Schedule August 5-9, 2013

Cost is $195 per camper / $145 sibling discount for registrations received before June 9, 2013.

After June 9, 2013 ALL campers are $225, no discounts provided

All participants in the UD Learn to Skate Summer Camp must have completed first grade.

Schedule listed below is tentative activities for the day. Camp time is 8am-4pm, schedule of activities during the day could change.

8:00-9:00am Student Drop-off, Open Ice, Warm up Drills
9:00am-11:30am On Ice and Off Ice Skating Activities
11:30am-Noon Lunch
Noon-1pm Outdoor Pool
1:15-2:00pm Arts and Crafts, Movies
2:00-4:00pm On Ice and Off Ice Skating Activities
4:00pm Student Pick Up
