Ice Skating Summer Camp

August 3-7, 2015

All participants in the Ice Skating Summer Camp must have completed first grade. Camp is open to all skating ability.

Camp is under the Direction of Christie Moxley. Christie has been a part of the University of Delaware figure skating program for over 27 years. She began in skating in the learn to skate program and went on to compete at the Sectional level in Freestyle, National level in pairs and International level in ice dancing.

Christie has been coaching for over 16 years. She enjoys coaching all disciplines and levels and has worked with skaters at the National, International and Junior World level.

Christie has served on the UDFSC board as well as numerous USFS committees. In addition, she holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Delaware in Health and Exercise Sciences.

This camp will focus on every facet of Figure Skating as well as introducing the basic skills to those who have never skated or taken lessons before.  All skill levels welcome!

The camp will ensure everyones development over the five days of training as classes will be designed to meet everyones skating ability. Held in the Fred Rust Arena from August 3-7, 2015, the camp will utilize the talents of the local UD skating community, including professional coaches from the UD High Performance Figure Skating Center.

Areas to be covered:
On-Ice classes will focus on strengthening skills to gain better control, balance, power, and accuracy of all elements. Some levels will also focus on the proper technique of jumpiing and spinning.
Off-Ice classes will focus on strength and conditioning, plyometric training, off ice dance, stretching as well as interpretation to music.

What you will need to bring:
Skates (can also be rented if needed at no additional cost)
Skating attire
Tights (may be purchased in Crystal Sports in arena lobby)
Ballet slippers for ballet or socks for off-ice dance
Gloves, mittens, warm layers of clothes
Gym clothes, including, shorts, t-shirt and sneakers
Swim suit, towel, sun screen
Daily lunch (except on Friday)
*Pizza and subs will be provided on Friday, June 19 & August 7 for lunch (own drinks need to be provided).
