Goalie Clinic

Instructor: Matt Marshallsea

Having been actively involved in coaching for the past 9 years in both group and private instruction, Matt brings a great deal of experience in teaching all the aspects of goaltending.

Matt is from the Newark area, and has 20 years of playing experience. This includes the Junior A and collegiate level. He grew up playing his youth hockey for the Wilmington Typhoon located in Wilmington, DE. From there he moved to the Philadelphia Little Flyers Junior B program and followed by the Washington Junior Nationals for Junior A. He also helped the University of Delaware Blue Hens to a National Championship in 2012.

He has been coaching private instruction for the past 8 years. His students range from beginning goaltenders, as young as 5, to college and junior goaltenders. Matt has also been an instructor at numerous camps along the east coast. He has attended Mitch Korn’s (Nashville Predators and University of Miami Ohio’s goalie coach) invitational only elite goaltending camp.

Matt’s extensive experience from years of playing and coaching helps individualize his coaching techniques for each goaltender. He believes a goaltender should be a strong skater, aggressive, and be positional and technically sound in order to succeed.

Throughout the goalie clinics, goalies should expect to:

  • Develop their goalie specific skating
  • Expand on their repertoire of saves
  • Improve their positioning
  • Read the game better
  • Improving their technique
