Newark Police investigate robbery of three UD students

The Newark Police Department is investigating an armed robbery of three 19-year-old University of Delaware students that occurred at approximately 9:50 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 9, in the unit block of Benny Street.

The students said they were walking on Benny Street when they were approached from behind by the two suspects. One of them produced a handgun and demanded that the students turn over their property. One of the students immediately ran from the area and the other two  turned over credit cards and a cell phone. The suspects then fled northwest on foot.

Officers, including a University of Delaware K9, searched the area, but the suspects could not be located.

The suspects were both described as white or Hispanic males with thin builds, approximately 20-25 years old, wearing hooded sweatshirts and dark clothing.

Anyone with information on this incident should contact Detective James Skinner at 302-366-7100 ext. 3135 or JSkinner@newark.de.us
