91.3FM WVUD honors outstanding members in annual ceremony

The University of Delaware's campus radio station, 91.3FM WVUD, held its eighth annual Hall of Fame induction ceremony on Tuesday, May 10, acknowledging past members who have made an indelible contribution to the station.

This year's class includes:

• Sean Greene, who became involved in WVUD's 100-plus game sports broadcasting team while still a student at Newark High School, and went on to become the sports director at WDEL 101.7FM.

• Michele Marcks (Ingari), a consistently productive member of WVUD's Operations Board throughout her undergraduate years, who acted as public relations/promotions director and served two terms as general manager

• Ron Whitehead, a former program director who assisted with the transition to FM radio and developed the diverse block format that WVUD has become known for.

Two current station members also received awards: Scott Miller, who was recognized as WVUD's Student Member of the Year, and Bill Barnett of UD Graduate and Professional Education, who was recognized as WVUD's Community Volunteer of the Year.

91.3FM WVUD and its exclusively student-run counterpart, 91.3FM HD-2 The Basement, offer an eclectic schedule of community- and student-led programming for the local community, including talk shows and sports coverage as well as a robust, proudly nonconformist musical lineup.

Facilitated through the Division of Student Life’s University Student Centers, WVUD offers ample on- and off-air opportunities throughout the academic year for students of all types to gain marketable experience in technical work, broadcasting and communications. More details on opportunities available through WVUD can be found on its website.
