Medical Care

In order to take full advantage of your stay in the United States, you should be in excellent health. If you are using any medication on a daily basis, we advise you to check with your doctor prior to your departure. Please bring an adequate supply of any prescription medicines you may need, and take them along with you aboard your aircraft in case your checked luggage is delayed. You should have a current written prescription IN ENGLISH for any unusual or controlled drugs you may require. If you use contact lenses or glasses, please make sure to bring an extra pair.

You will be provided essential health benefits under the U. S. Department of State's Accident & Sickness Program for Exchanges. For detailed information on this program visit http://usdos.sevencorners.com.

Upon your arrival, you will be issued a health benefits card that will be valid during your stay with the Institute. Should you need to see a doctor, however, there will be a co-pay which you will need to pay at the time of service. Accidents, illnesses, and emergencies are covered; however, treatment for pre-existing conditions may not be. You may also wish to purchase additional private insurance.

UD program staff will assist you in locating health care providers should you need care during your participation in the Institute.
