Delaware Diamonds Society

Established in 1991, the Delaware Diamonds Society is a recognition society devoted to encouraging exemplary levels of financial support among alumni, parents, faculty, staff, students and friends of the University of Delaware. It pays tribute to those who contribute $1,000 or more annually on a consistent basis.

Membership is renewable annually based on cumulative gifts made to the University in a fiscal year. Corporate matching gifts are credited toward individual membership, and spousal giving counts toward household membership.

In the 2011-2012 academic year, more than 3,230 individual Delaware Diamonds Society members raised $19,263,460, representing a 110% increase in Society giving from the previous fiscal year.

Society members supported 665 allocations, including scholarships, colleges, departments, athletics, research, student groups and other programs.

Privileges

The University of Delaware’s special privileges are eligible to leadership donors who make an annual financial commitment to UD (July 1- June 30.) In addition to invitations to select Blue Hen athletic events; special entrances to Delaware Stadium; preferred seating at select concerts and events in the Bob Carpenter Center; Delaware Diamonds Society members receive discounts at the following Newark establishments:

Barnes & Noble UD Bookstore
As a Society member, you may receive a 10% discount on all UD merchandise and general books when you bring your card to the Bookstore at 83 E. Main Street.

Caffé Gelato
Main Street dining at its best is yours when you bring your Society card to Caffé Gelato at 90 E. Main Street for 15% off lunch.

Courtyard Marriott, Newark, Delaware
Stay at the Courtyard Marriott in Newark  and receive 10% off the prevailing room rate at all times. You’ll also get VIP program discounts for services in the hotel. Delaware Diamonds Privileges Card required at check-in.

Vita Nova Restaurant
At Vita Nova, you’ll enjoy fine dining prepared by UD’s students of Hotel, Restaurant, and Institutional Management. Society members get a 10% discount on meals. You must dine while classes are in session— Sept. 4 to Nov. 29, and Feb. 11 to May 10. The restaurant is located in the Trabant Student Center at 17 West Main Street.

President's Authors Series
President Harker invites exploration of the written, published works of alumni and faculty of UD by inviting authors to speak to an audience of leadership donors. Besides illuminating the book’s topic and the process of writing and publishing, the author and audience meet in a cocktail reception and book signing. Hosted twice per year on the Newark campus of the University of Delaware, submissions from alumni and faculty may be sent to Robin Wray at rwray@udel.edu.

Additional Delaware Diamonds Society privileges include being listed in the President’s Report on Philanthropy, membership in the Bob Carpenter Club and a commermorative Diamonds Walkway Brick with name recognition at Old College after give consecutive years as a Society member.
