Celebration of Scholarship

The Celebration of Scholarship is an annual event that brings together donors of undergraduate scholarships and awards and the students who receive them. The event recognizes the generosity of our scholarship donors, and the profound effect their gifts have on the lives of UD students.

This evening is about making connections.

Donors have the opportunity to hear about the classes that scholarship recipients take, the residence halls in which they live, and the activities in which they participate. Students are able to share their experiences, and, just as importantly, meet the people who make their education a reality.

The significance of the evening was perhaps best summarized by one of the speakers, Lori Jane Henhaffer, CHEP ’09, and the Class of 1958 Scholarship recipient. She said, “Every student who sits before me in this room and all of the students who could not make it tonight have their own unique stories, so please talk to them and see how you have impacted their lives. As diverse as we students are, we all have one commonality; we owe our greatest thank-you and sincerest gratitude to those of you in the room who have given us a precious gift. An opportunity for an education; an opportunity to succeed.”
