Celebration of Scholarship

Celebration of Scholarship is an annual event that brings together donors of undergraduate scholarships and awards and the students who receive them. The event recognizes the generosity of our scholarship donors and the profound effect their gifts have on the lives of UD students.

This evening is about making connections.

Donors have the opportunity to hear about the classes that scholarship recipients take, the residence halls in which they live, and the activities in which they participate. Students are able to share their experiences, and, just as importantly, meet the people who make their education a reality.

The significance of the evening was perhaps best summarized by one of the speakers, Meredith Rubin, College of Education and Human Development ’11, and the David W. Baldt Sportsmanship Scholarship recipient. Sharing her thoughts with the guests, Meredith noted, “I have been so incredibly lucky to have the support of the Delaware community to learn life skills, form long-lasting friendships, and enrich my college experience. My appreciation for the thoughtful and selfless donors here tonight cannot be conveyed enough. Without the generous gifts made by the donors here tonight, I would have not been able to realize how much I have accomplished and what I have to look forward to.”
