Tuition exchange

Tuition Exchange (TE) is a reciprocal scholarship opportunity for dependents of eligible faculty and staff at more than 660 member schools nationwide.

Eligibility

  • Full-time benefited faculty and staff who have two years of eligible service by October 31
  • Retirees who meet University of Delaware age and service requirements

Benefit

If a scholarship is awarded, full or partial tuition is waived for a full-time matriculated undergraduate dependent child. A student may be granted a scholarship up to 4 years.

Application Process

The employee must log into web forms, select BEN Educational Benefits. Click the button for Tuition Exchange, complete the form accordingly, then select Submit. Up to five schools may be listed on the web form. Additional schools may be selected by sending an email to hrhelp@udel.edu which must include your child’s name, name of the school(s) including city/state.

Faculty

Limitations

The opportunity to participate in this competitive scholarship program is automatic for one child. However, additional slots are available (by lottery) for faculty who wish a second eligible dependent child to participate in TEP.

Lottery Drawing

Held the last Friday in October. You may attend the lottery drawing but it is not required. Human Resources will notify you of your lottery number.

Lottery Application Deadline

TEP web forms must be received in Human Resources by the preceding Monday before the lottery drawing date.

Late applications are NOT accepted.

TEP Application Submission

TEP applications will be submitted by Human Resources to the schools listed on the web form in early November for staff who win a lottery slot. Staff who did not win a lottery slot will be placed on a waiting list.

Next Steps for Faculty Second Child Submission

Human Resources will review the web form and if eligibility is met, you will be entered in the Faculty Lottery. Once the drawing has been completed, you will be notified of your lottery number and if you have received a lottery slot. If you have received a lottery slot, TE application(s) will be submitted for your child in early November. If you did not receive a lottery slot, you will be placed on a waiting list.

Staff

Limitations

The opportunity to compete in this competitive scholarship program is available for staff by lottery only. The scholarship shall apply to only one dependent child per year. Staff may also have one eligible dependent participating in the University’s Tuition Remission at the same time.
