As an undergraduate in British Columbia, Nicholas Bell became interested in the study of material culture and how objects illustrate the history of personal and societal values. He enrolled in UD's Winterthur Program in American Material Culture in the College of Arts and Sciences and earned his master's degree, then joined the Renwick Gallery, a branch museum of the American Art Museum dedicated to American craft and decorative arts. As curator there, his numerous responsibilities include building the permanent collection, developing and managing exhibitions, contributing scholarship to the field through his writing, advising visiting fellows and lecturing on special topics.
