Wellness Center offers cholesterol screening

4:21 p.m., May 16, 2005--UD’s Employee Wellness Center will conduct a cholesterol screening from 11 a.m.-1 p.m., Wednesday, June 1, in 125 Memorial Hall.

The test, which requires a simple finger stick, takes about 10 minutes, to complete and provides total cholesterol and HDL (good cholesterol) levels, which indicate risk of heart disease. High cholesterol has no symptoms and can lead to heart attach or stroke.

Heart disease affects millions of Americans, with high cholesterol putting individuals at risk for a heart attack or stroke. Minor lifestyle changes such as following a low-fat diet and being physically active can help keep cholesterol levels within a healthy range.

Cost is 10 Wellness Dollars plus a $5 co-payment. Call (302) 831-8388 to schedule a 15-minute appointment. Employees have until June 15 to spend their Wellness Dollars for this fiscal year.
