'Protecting PNPI' seminars set Oct. 5, 6

5:57 p.m., Sept. 19, 2005--As part of the University's campaign to increase faculty and staff awareness of their role in safeguarding personal nonpublic information (PNPI), IT-User Services is repeating its 'Protecting PNPI' seminars.

This seminar, open to all employees, will be offered at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 5, and again at 9:30 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 6. To register for one of the “Protecting PNPI” sessions, visit [present.smith.udel.edu/calendar/].

The seminar will review UD's guidelines for protecting PNPI, the steps employees must take to safeguard PNPI and some of the issues pertaining to electronic recordkeeping. University employees are encouraged to bring their questions and concerns about this important set of issues.

These seminars are offered in support of the University's campaign to help every department review how it secures any PNPI it retains. "By Oct. 31, our staff will have visited every department on campus to help them assess their business practices," Ron Nichols, IT-User Services, said.

To request a review of your department’s computing equipment and uses of PNPI, call the Information Technologies Help Center at (302) 831-6000.
