Online Master of Science in Business Analytics and Information Management (M.S) Application Process

Our graduate application system is designed to put you in control of not only the application but all documents associated with that application. We have designated areas within the application where each required document should be uploaded. 

 

You’ll need:

  1. A completed online application. A $75 application fee is due when you submit your online application.
  2. A bachelor’s degree in any academic background from a regionally accredited institution.
  3. A GPA of at least 3.0. (If your GPA is below 3.0, you should still apply, as we take your strengths and skills in other areas into account.)
  4. Unofficial copies of your transcripts. (We’ll need official versions once you're admitted).
  5. A current résumé.
  6. Two letters of recommendation.
  7. A personal statement that details your goals and objectives and clearly identify your interest in the Lerner College degree program.
  8. Optional: GRE Scores

Our program can be customized to meet your career goals: you can choose to focus your study on business analytics, information management or a blend of the two. It’s designed to be convenient for both working professionals and full-time students.

The curriculum for UD’s online M.S. in Business Analytics and Information Management includes 10 courses: 3 core courses and 7 core electives. The program can be completed within 12-24 months depending on curriculum choices and personal schedules. The Business Analytics and Information Management is also offered as a hybrid program that blends both online and in-person courses.

BANA 662 - Fundamentals of Business Analytics 

Introduction to the basic tools and methods of data analytics for business. Topics include inferential statistics, predictive models, business processes, and methods of presenting results.

MISY 604 - Database Design and Implementation 

Introduces the fundamentals of modern database concepts. Covers relational database design and implementation techniques, as well as the current relational database standard - the structured query language (SQL). Explore advanced topics such as big data analytics.

MISY 685 - Introduction to Business Programming 

Covers principles of programming to perform data analytics and visualization, and their applications in various fields (including, but not limited to, business analytics, financial services, management science, and accounting).

Merit-Based Awards

Merit-based funding opportunities listed below are available to full-time students. To remain eligible for funding, students must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.

Graduate Scholarships – Merit-based graduate scholarships are available to exceptionally qualified full-time applicants. Awards may cover up to 25% of tuition for up to two years. No separate scholarship application is required.

 

Additional Scholarship Opportunities – Lerner College offers several scholarships to support students based on their connection to the University of Delaware or recent economic hardship. Only one 20% graduate scholarship may be awarded per eligible student. These scholarships cannot be combined with other University of Delaware funding, including merit-based scholarships or graduate assistantships.

  • UD Alumni Support Scholarship: A 20% tuition scholarship and application fee waiver for University of Delaware alumni pursuing a Lerner graduate program.
  • UD Student Support Scholarship: A 20% tuition scholarship for current UD juniors, seniors, and recent graduates enrolling in a Lerner graduate program or a 4+1 program.
  • Economic Hardship Scholarship: A 20% tuition scholarship and application fee waiver for individuals who experienced job loss in 2025 or 2026.

You can transfer up to 9 credits per University of Delaware policy.

Note: No transfers are accepted for the capstone course.

All requests for transfer credit should be directed to the student’s major department using a Request for Transfer of Graduate Credit form. Transfer credits will be accepted provided that such credits:

  • Were earned with a grade of no less than B,
  • Are approved by the student’s adviser and the chair of the student’s major department,
  • Are in accord with the specific degree program of the student as specified by the unit’s Graduate Program Policy Statement,
  • Are not older than five years,
  • Are graduate level courses, and
  • Were completed at an accredited college or university.

Graduate courses counted toward a degree received elsewhere may not be transferred into a degree at the University of Delaware. Credits from institutions outside of the United States are generally not transferable to the University of Delaware.
