Spirit Stations

Wear your UD gear throughout Homecoming Week and stop by a Spirit Station to claim your prize. Pick up your special punch card at any of the spirit stations throughout the week and if you receive 3 out of 5 stamps, you are eligible to win the sixth prize on game day.

Each day three Spirit Stations, located at a Trabant Kiosk, South Green by Memorial Hall and at the fountain between Smith & Purnell Halls, will be open between Noon and 2:00 p.m. Prizes are limited and on a first come, first served basis. If you are not wearing UD attire you will not be eligible to receive a prize.

  • Monday, October 7: Blue & Gold Beads
  • Tuesday, October 8: Yellow Tube Socks
  • Wednesday, October 9: Blue Awareness Band *Student Alumni Ambassador "Make & Take" as part of this Spirit Stations and will feature UD-inspired crowns.
  • Thursday, October 10: Sunglasses
  • Friday, October 11: Sweatband/headband *Special shoe drive at the Trabant Spirit Station sponsored by Cross Country and Track & Field teams.
  • Saturday, October 12: Water Bottle

Pep Rally

Due to the inclement weather expected on Friday, the location of the 2nd annual Pep Rally has been moved to Gym 2 in the Carpenter Sports Building (in The Little Bob- across from the rock climbing wall).

The Pep Rally is free and open to the public. Guests are encouraged to wear blue and gold. Busing will still be available for students living on East and West campuses starting at 3:30pm, and will make a return route when the event is over.

UD Career Services will be there handing out spirit rally towels at the start of the event so be sure to get yours! Additionally, there will be a shoe drive sponsored by the Cross Country and Track & Field teams so bring any old/un-used shoes!


Homecoming T-shirt Contest

Delaware Athletics and the Cockpit are proud to announce the 3rd annual Homecoming T-Shirt Design Contest! UD students had the chance to design the 2013 Homecoming Student T-shirt and voting is now open!

Voting is now closed. Be sure to pick up your shirt at the UD pep rally and any leftover shirts will be handed out at the game!

Banner Competition

Open to all student clubs, residence hall groups, RSO's, Greek chapters, and student-athletes, the friendly competition involved creating a spirited banner that will get the crowd excited about Homecoming! Students can pick up a blank, free banner at the Office of Alumni Relations starting on Tuesday, August 27 through Thursday, October 3. All banners are DUE to the Office of Alumni Relations by 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 3 and will be hung in Trabant throughout Homecoming week.

Judging will take place during Homecoming week and the announcement of the winners will occur at the Pep Rally on Friday, October 11 at 4:30 p.m. on the Laird Campus Turf. Three prizes will be awarded.

Banner design criteria includes originality and creativity, representation of your group, overall representation of UD, and use of UD colors (blue and yellow). Proper representation of YoUDee will also be considered. All banners must be horizontal.


Dodgeball Tournament

Sign up TODAY for the first Homecoming Dodgeball Tournament! Get a group of your 4 closest friends together by October 6 at 11:59 p.m.

When: Monday, October 7 at 5:00 p.m.
Where: The Little Bob
Why: The final team will win a special prize!

Amazing Race, UD style!

Also during Homecoming Week, keep the fun going and sign up a group of 6-8 of your friends to take part of the first ever UD Amazing Race competition! Do you think you know everything about campus? This fun competition will have you running from east campus, to north, to west and more! All the while you will be able to check off some UD Bucket List items.

The race will take place on Wednesday, October 9 at 6:30 p.m. and you must sign up by Sunday, October 6 by 4:30 p.m.

Prizes:

  • First Place team: Bragging rights and the first place trophy
  • Second Place team: special medal
  • Third Place team: special medal

Homecoming QUIZZO

Take a break from studying and bring your friends to a special edition of quizzo on Tuesday, October 8 at 7:00 p.m. in the Scrounge at the Perkins Student Center. Representatives from the Student Homecoming Committee will be there facilitating the questions.


HAVEN Stand-up Comedian

Renée Santos is a rising, Queer, Latina comedian and actress. A regular on the L.A comedy scene, Santos has performed on multiple big time networks such as CBS and Showtime. Currently, Santos is shining in the stand-up comedy special "PRIDE COMEDY JAM" and touring the country.

She is a great aspect of the queer community and represents what Haven Stands for. Additionally, it will be great for the UD community to see the types of events that Haven offers so get your friends together to see Renée Santos. This event is free and open to all students and sponsored by Haven.


Tunes in Trabant sponsored by SCPAB

Thursday, October 10th at 3:00 p.m. on the Trabant Patio.

Tunes in Trabant is a six-part outdoor concert series that is located on the Trabant Patio. The final show takes place this upcoming Thursday the 10th. It will begin at 3p.m and run until 4:15. For the final show we are using University of Delaware students rather than paid performers. Five different groups/solo artists will preform, each having their own 15 minute set. It is an all acoustic concert.


Awkward Family Photo

How awkward can you and your friends be? Whether you're in a RSO, Greek Chapter or just want to get together with your friends, be sure to participate in the "Awkward Family Photo" contest and prove it! Combine your awkwardness and your school spirit!

Photos will be judged on:

  1. School Spirit
  2. Awkwardness/humor
  3. Creativity

Photos are due by October 8th at 4:30 p.m. and will be announced at the Pep Rally on Friday, October 11th at 4:30 p.m.
