Goalpost Party

Online registration is now closed. Walk-ups will still be accepted. At-door tickets are $15 for adults ages 21+, and $10 for guests under 21. Guests ages 21+ will receive 2 drink tickets with their admission. Guests under 21 will not. Everyone will be carded, so please bring your ID.

UD Alumni Relations is bringing back the Goalpost Party and the event will take place after the football game on Saturday, October 12! Be sure to register early, as space is limited. The event will take place under a large tent as part of the Hospitality Village on South Campus adjacent to the new addition of the Bob Carpenter Center and the VIP gold lot. Guests will be treated to the 10-piece Philadelphia party band All About Me.

Admission includes endless appetizers, two drink tickets, a cash bar, photo booth and more.
21+ to drink, under 21 admitted. Everyone will be carded.

Appetizers and food include chicken fingers with assorted dipping sauces, meatball subs, chicken quesadillas, chilled spinach dip served with bread, warm soft pretzels, garden crudites served with humus and ranch dip, and popcorn. Water and assorted soft drinks will also be served along with coffee, tea and cash bar. The specialty drink includes the "Blue Diamond." (The Blue Diamond is vodka, blue curacao and sprite/soda.)

Starting at 3:30 p.m. a bus will be running from the Trabant Garage to South Campus for the event. When the event is over, between 6:00 and 8:00 p.m. there will be buses returning alumni and guests to campus. If you plan to park on South Campus but not attending the game, the parking lots open at halftime and guests can park in lot #88 or in front, or near the Delaware Field House.

The deadline for a full refund is Monday, October 7 at 4:30 p.m. No refunds will be issued after that date. Refunds will not be given for missed events after the event has taken place, or if the event is postponed or cancelled.

In the event of inclement weather, UD reserves the right to postpone the event to later in the evening or cancel the Goalpost Party. No refunds will be issued if the Goalpost Party is postponed or cancelled.

Registrant name badges are transferable (meaning you can give your registration to a friend if you cannot attend) up until Wednesday, October 9 at 4:30 p.m. by emailing with your request to transfer your registration. In the email, you must clearly state your name, registration confirmation number, and the full name and class year of the person to whom you are transferring your badge/registration. Name badge transfers will not be accepted after Wednesday, October 9 at 4:30 p.m.

UD Alumni Association Outstanding Alumni Awards

Grace Thompson Leong ’88 AS and Steven E. Linberg ’73 AS are the 2013 recipients of the UDAA Outstanding Alumni Award. Presented annually over Homecoming by the University of Delaware Alumni Association, this award is given to UD alumni who have exhibited exceptional volunteer work on behalf of the University of Delaware and/or the University of Delaware Alumni Association.

Grace has served on the College of Arts & Sciences Dean’s advisory council since 2009 and is the current vice chair. Grace is also a member of the Horn Program for Entrepreneurial Studies advisory board based in the Lerner College of Business and Economics. For several years, Grace has been a professional advisor to UD's Public Relations Student Society of America, and has provided resources and funding for dozens of communications students to engage in professional development opportunities. She also sponsors a winter session internship at her New York based public relations firm which is exclusively reserved for UD students. Additionally, Grace and her husband, Todd ’86 EG, are volunteers in the Delaware Diamonds Society rebranding efforts, acting as a profile story in UD's marketing efforts.

Steve served as a founding member and as inaugural Chair of the College of Arts and Sciences Advisory Council from 2009 until 2012. He assisted the Dean in setting the strategic direction for the Council and led regular council meetings held twice per year. Steve has supported UD by attending numerous events on campus, including the Plastino Scholars annual dinner, President-hosted pre-game receptions for Basketball and Football games, Kent & Sussex County alumni club gatherings, and An Evening of Conversations and Connections with Washington, DC alumni. Steve and his wife, Alice ’73 AS, have steadily contributed to UD since 2000 and are current members of the Delaware Diamonds Society at the Senior Benefactor level. A proud UD alumnus, all three of Steve and Alice’s children graduated from UD along with two of Steve’s siblings. He is a member of the Phi Kappa Phi academic honor society at UD.

Campus Walking Tour

Join a Student Alumni Ambassador on a guided stroll around campus. Scheduled for Saturday, October 12 at 10:00 a.m., meet at Gore Hall (facing The Green) and be sure to bring your walking shoes and camera. Highlights include the current renovation of the Carpenter Sports Building (Little Bob), the Interdisciplinary Science and Engineering Lab and more. Online registration for the walking tour is now closed. We have limited space for walk-ups. If you would like to go on the tour and did not pre-register, please arrive early at Gore Hall to secure a walk-up spot.

ISE Lab (Interdisciplinary Science and Engineering Laboratory) Tour

Take a tour of the brand new Interdisciplinary Science and Engineering Laboratory (ISE Lab) building. Two tours are offered, but please make sure to register, as space is limited.

  • Friday, October 11 at 5:00 p.m.
  • Sunday, October 13 at 11:00 a.m.

The tours will be approximately one hour, but no longer. Meet your tour guide on the corner of Academy Street and Lovett Avenue. Park in the Perkins Parking garage.

The 194,000-square-foot facility brings together students and faculty from various disciplines to teach, learn and conduct research in a collaborative environment. Research will provide content for the curriculum and students will learn through exploration of real-world problems. For more information about the “ISE lab” visit the website.

The CANR Distinguished Alumni Awards are presented at Homecoming each year to alumni of the college, based upon the criteria below. Separate Distinguished Young Alumni Awards may be presented to alumni who have graduated within the past 10 years.

  • A clear record of outstanding career accomplishments.
  • Evidence of service and leadership to their profession
  • Involvement in community service activities, including those to the University of Delaware.
