9:13 a.m., Aug. 19, 2008--The Center for Disabilities Studies (CDS) at the University of Delaware will offer several series of courses of Training in Early Care and Education (TECE I and II) beginning in September for those seeking certification as assistant teachers or teachers in child care programs.
TECE I and II are designed to prepare individuals to work with infants, toddlers, and preschoolers in an early care and education program. TECE I is required for anyone seeking employment as an assistant teacher and TECE II is for those seeking employment as a teacher.
For the convenience of those enrolling, the courses are offered at various times and in several different locations throughout Delaware and meet either once or twice during the week or on weekends. The registration and material fees for each course are $300.

Registration is due one week prior to the first session of the course. Enrollment in each course is limited and the course is subject to cancellation if there is not sufficient enrollment.
The Center for Disabilities Studies co-sponsors these programs with the University of Delaware's Early Learning Center and has partnered with Delaware First Professional Development System of the Department of Education to provide the curriculum. The mission of the Center for Disabilities Studies is to enhance the lives of individuals and families in Delaware through education, prevention, service, and research related to disabilities. The Center promotes independence and productivity so individuals and families can fully participate in the life of the community.
