Honors

Ron Martin, professor of geological science, was elected president of the North American Micropaleontological Section of the Society for Sedimentary Geology. The section, which has more than 300 members, promotes all aspects of micropaleontology through application, research and education.

John Boyer, E.I. du Pont Professor of Biochemistry/Biophysics Emeritus, received the Charles Reid Barnes Life Membership Award from the American Society of Plant Biologists (ASPB) at its annual meeting July 7-11 in Chicago. Boyer also received the Fellow of ASPB Award in recognition of distinguished and long-term contributions to plant biology and service to the society at the same meeting.

Service

Lee Anderson, professor of marine policy, was appointed by Delaware Gov. Ruth Ann Minner to become member of the Mid-Atlantic Fishery Management Council for three years. The council is responsible for management of fisheries in federal waters found predominantly off the mid-Atlantic coast.
