3:51 p.m., Oct. 5, 2007--Paul Kramer, associate professor of history at the University of Iowa, will lecture on “Imperial Reconstructions: Racial Regimes and U.S. Globality in the 20th Century,” at 12:30 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 9, in 203 Munroe Hall.

Kramer was named a “Top Young Historian” by History News Network in August 2007. A student of transnational empires and racial formations, he is the author of Empires, Exceptions, and Anglo-Saxons: Race and Rule Between the British and U.S. Empires, 1880-1910, and The Blood of Government: Race, Empire, the United States and the Philippines, which won the James A. Rawley Prize from the Organization of American Historians and the Stuart Bernath Prize from the Society for Historians of American Foreign Relations.

The lecture, part of the fall 2007 History Workshop in Technology, Society and Culture series sponsored by UD's Department of History, is free and open to the public. It will run until 1:45 p.m., and participants are encouraged to bring and eat bagged lunches.
