Live performance to be transmitted to UD via Internet2
Last May the University helped make history as one of six locations to receive the first digital video transport system (DVTS) multicast ever used for an orchestra performance.
4:30 p.m., Feb. 29, 2008--The Philadelphia Orchestra's Global Concert Series continues with a virtual concert performance at 2 p.m., Friday, March 7, in the theatre of the Trabant University Center. The live concert will be transmitted via Internet2 in HD and Dolby surround sound with enhanced and interactive content.

The program will feature Orff's Carmina Burana with Maestro Christoph Campestrini, trumpeter David Bilger and the Philadelphia Singers Chorale. The concert also will include Wagner's Overture to The Flying Dutchman and the United States premier of Willi's Eirene for trumpet and orchestra.

This concert will be only the second performance of its kind at UD. Last May the University helped make history as one of six locations to receive the first digital video transport system (DVTS) multicast ever used for an orchestra performance. A third multicast performance will be broadcast at UD on Saturday, May 3.

The performance is being presented by the Department of Music and Information Technologies at UD. The program is made possible in part by grants from the Delaware Division of the Arts in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts.

Admission is $12 for adults, $8 for seniors and alumni and $3 for students. Tickets can be purchased at the door or in advance at the Trabant University Center or the Bob Carpenter Center box offices.
