11:04 a.m., March 30, 2007--Linda Katehi, provost and vice chancellor for academic affairs at the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign, will present UD's annual Women of Excellence Lecture at 4 p.m., Monday, April 2, in the Rodney Room of the Perkins Student Center. She will speak on “The New Face of Leadership in Higher Education: The Important Role of Underrpresented Groups in Shaping the Future.”

Katehi, who served as the John A. Edwardson Dean of Engineering and Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Purdue University from 2002-06, also has served as associate dean and professor of electrical engineering and computer science at the University of Michigan.

Sponsored by Commission on the Status of Women, the lecture, which is free and open to the public, honors women graduate students at UD. A reception will follow the lecture.
