Offered to university educators to enhance learning and teaching effectiveness at the university level, the conference will feature 48 sessions and 21 poster presentations that address innovative teaching. Preconference sessions on active learning and course design are being offered from 1:30-4:40 p.m., Thursday, April 12. For a detailed agenda, visit [www.udel.edu/lillyeast/agenda.html]. This year's conference will feature keynote speakers Peter Seldin from Pace University, an international authority on evaluating faculty performance, and Milton Cox, from Miami University of Ohio, an international expert on the scholarship of teaching. Besides bringing recognized experts on teaching in higher education to campus, the conference also will provide a forum for UD faculty to share innovative teaching practices and research on teaching with colleagues from East Coast institutions, according to Gabriele Bauer, assistant director of UD's Center for Teaching Effectiveness and coordinator of the conference. UD is committed to supporting faculty who want to enhance their teaching skills by supplementing 90 percent of the $379 conference registration cost. The faculty member or department is responsible for the remaining 10 percent of the registration cost. Conference information can be found at [www.udel.edu/lillyeast/proposal/index.html] and questions about this year's event can be answered by calling (302) 831-2027. |
