Daylong forum to address grief set March 22

1:41 p.m., March 12, 2007--The University of Delaware and the Delaware End-of-Life Coalition will co-host “Living With Grief: Before and After the Death,” an all-day forum for professionals and community members exploring living with grief and loss, from 8 a.m.- 4:30 p.m., Thursday, March 22.

Forums will be located in the Trabant University Center at UD; the Bayhealth Medical Center in Dover; and at the Jack F. Owens campus at Delaware Technical and Community College in Georgetown.

The morning session will be a live statewide webcast, and the fee, including lunch, is $59. The session will feature speakers, discussion and panel presentations on topics such as basic needs of grieving children and the clinical implications of managing hope, meaning and purpose in the face of loss. The Bayhealth Medical Center will provide continuing education contact hours.

The afternoon teleconference, produced by the Hospice Foundation of America (HFA), is free and will be moderated by Frank Sesno, professor of media and public affairs at George Washington University and special correspondent with CNN. A panel of ethicists, educators and hospice experts will explore the most current theoretical perspectives on loss and grief as experienced by persons throughout a life-limiting illness and by survivors after the death. HFA will provide continuing education contact hours.

To register, call (302) 831-4549 for the Newark location, (877) 453-7107 for the Dover location and (302) 855-1617 for the Georgetown location. For more information and for registration forms, visit [www.deolc.org]. The registration deadline is Thursday, March 15.
