Talk on 'Why Africa is Poor' set March 7

5:10 p.m., March 1, 2007--Guest lecturer George Ayittey, distinguished economist in residence at American University and president of the Free Africa Foundation, will speak on “Why Africa is Poor” at 5 p.m., Wednesday, March 7, in 127 Memorial Hall.

Ayittey received his master's degree from the University of Western Ontario in 1971 and his doctoral degree from the University of Manitoba in 1981. He is the author of several books, including: Africa Unchained: The Blueprint for Development; Africa in Chaos; The Blueprint for Ghana's Economic Recovery; Africa Betrayed; and Indigenous African Institutions.
