Hens Hardwood Classic slated for April 21

3:20 p.m., March 13, 2007--UD's Sport Management Program will be hosting the second annual Hens Hardwood Classic at 10 a.m., Saturday, April 21, in the Carpenter Sports Building. Students, faculty, and staff are invited to participate in this three-on-three basketball tournament, managed and marketed by sport management students as part of the event and facility management course instructed by Tim DeSchriver, associate professor in the Department of Health, Nutrition and Exercise Sciences.

Each team may have up to four players and will be guaranteed to play in a minimum of three games. The event will feature four separate divisions: men's elite, men's recreational, women's and a faculty/staff division. The registration fee for the event is $10 per player with all proceeds donated to the UD Sport Management Program.

In addition to the basketball tournament, there will be special events taking place throughout the day, including a three-point contest and a slam-dunk showdown featuring celebrity judges. All players involved in the event will receive a free T-shirt. The top teams in each division also will receive prizes.

Teams must register by Tuesday, April 17. There will be registration kiosks available at the Trabant University Center from 11 a.m.-2 p.m., on Wednesday, March 21; Wednesday, April 4; Thursday, April 5; Tuesday, April 10; and Wednesday, April 12. There also will be a registration table all day on Tuesday, April 17, at the Carpenter Sports Building. Registration materials also may be dropped off in Room 015 of the Carpenter Sports Building.
