'Healthy Competition' topic of lecture March 12

Michael Cannon will speak Monday at UD.

8:32 a.m., March 9, 2007--Michael Cannon, director of health policy studies at the Cato Institute in Washington, D.C., will deliver a public lecture on “Healthy Competition: What's Holding Back Health Care and How to Free It,” at 7 p.m., Monday, March 12, in 303 Gore Hall.

The lecture is sponsored by the Department of Economics in the Lerner College of Business and Economics and the University Center for Teaching Effectiveness.

Before joining the Cato Institute, Cannon served as a domestic policy analyst at the U.S. Senate Republican Policy Committee, where he advised the Senate leadership on health, education, labor, welfare, and Second Amendment policy. In addition, Cannon has worked as a health care policy analyst for Citizens for a Sound Economy Foundation.

He is co-author of a book with the same title as the lecture.
