Spring deadlines for women's affairs awards

5:20 p.m., March 1, 2007--UD's Office of Women's Affairs and the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) have announced spring deadlines for special awards. Complete information and application forms are available at [www.udel.edu/OWA/awards.shtml].

Two awards will be given at Honors Day to outstanding returning adult women students. The Bessie Collins Award of $250 will be given to a woman who is over 25 years old, has a minimum grade point average of 3.0, demonstrates future promise and has overcome special difficulties in pursuing her goals. The Mae Carter Scholars Award of $500 will be awarded to an undergraduate or graduate woman student with a grade point average of at least 3.0 who has demonstrated service to women on campus and commitment to scholarship. The nomination deadline for these two awards is Friday, March 16.

The E. Arthur Trabant Award for Women's Equity is given to an individual, department, administrative unit or committee that has made an exceptional contribution to equity for women at the University. CSW defines “contribution” broadly to encourage as wide a range of nominations as possible, but examples might include developing exemplary programs or curricula, implementing innovative policies and procedures related to women's equity and enhancing existing services to women. The deadline for nominations is Friday, April 6.

For more information, call the Office of Women's Affairs at (302) 831-8063.
