Dependent tuition waiver exchange program inked

4:18 p.m., June 1, 2007--A new tuition waiver exchange program signed by UD President David P. Roselle on May 18 will grant tuition-free attendance to degree programs at Delaware Technical and Community College (DTCC) to dependents of full-time UD employees.

Negotiated by John A. Courtright, director of Undergraduate Studies at UD, director of the University Honors Program and professor of communication, the exchange program will waive the tuition for dependents of full-time UD employees who are admitted as fully matriculated students in any degree-granting program at DTCC. In turn, the dependents of DTCC employees can attend the Associate in Arts Program in the same tuition-free manner.

“Negotiations were ongoing throughout the past academic year,” Courtright said. “We think the tuition waiver exchange program is a good idea because the dependents of full-time employees of the University can pursue degrees at Del Tech tuition-free as well under this brand new plan.”

To be eligible for the program, students must apply for and receive admission to the degree program at the host institution through the regular admission process. Students also must complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and must apply and be found ineligible for a SEED grant from the state of Delaware.
