Sexual assault survivor art exhibit opens April 11

4:23 p.m., March 28, 2006--A reception for "Healing the Wounded Heart," an art exhibit by sexual assault surviviors, will be held from 6:30-8:30 p.m., Tuesday, April 11, at the Howard High School of Technology, 401 East 12th St., Wilmington. Light refreshments will be served.

The exhibition will be open to the public, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., April 18-20.

UD's Center for Disabilities Studies, the Arc of Delaware and the National Alliance for Mental Illness of Delaware are sponsoring the art exhibit for survivors of sexual assault in observance of Sexual Assault Awareness Month. The purpose of the joint project, Delaware Project Illumination, is to spread community awareness about the prevalence and effects of sexual assault on its victims, particularly those with disabilities.

Those who want to attend the April 11 reception should call Deanna Pedicone at (302) 996-9400 or send e-mail to [dpedicone@arcde.org].
