Nov. 17 talk on working with your doctor

2:19 p.m., Oct. 25, 2004--A noon lecture on health care management strategies for University employees will be offered from 12:05-12:55 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 17, in 006 Willard Hall Education Building.

“S is for Speak Up: Becoming a Partner in Your Health Care” will address common challenges faced by today’s health care consumers. Guest speaker Lisa Shotyk, a clinical nurse educator at Union Hospital in Elkton, Md., will discuss how to deal with rising costs and shorter physician visits, as well as what questions patients should ask during office visits, what strategies patients can use during a hospital stay to ensure personal safety and what timeframes are recommended for routine screenings.

Employees who wish to maximize the quality of their health care are encouraged to attend the talk. The lecture costs 10 Wellness Dollars, and all attendees will be entered in a drawing for a $25 gift certificate to Harry’s Savoy Grill.

Employees can register online at [www.udel.edu/wellness] or by calling (302) 831-8388, the same number to call for additional information about the lecture.
